About Dirk Strakhof

Bassist and Composer, born 1960 and based in Berlin
Jazz studies at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Sigi Busch, David Friedmann and Jerry Granelli
Scholarship to New York for tuition with Dave Holland, Richie Beirach, Rufus Reid and Ron McClure

CD productions:

with his own Band "Batoru", with "Out of Print", the Composers' Orchestra Berlin, the "Hub Hildenbrand Trio", Andreas Schmidt & friends feat. Dave Liebman, "Griese/Kappe Quintet" and in a Duo with Corinna Reich.

 

Previous collaboration with

Pierre Dørge, Lauren Newton, Nils Petter Molvaer, David Liebman, Denney Goodhew, Stoyan Yankoulov and Petar Ralchev.

Tours with "out of print in Germany, Romania, Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, South Africa and Colombia.

With Franz Bauer and the Kite Duo in Mexiko, Nicaragua, Trinidad, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Workshops with local musicians

Collaboration with the Thakt Ensemble for Arabian Music and Mohammed Askari.

Since 2011 Member of the Composers' Orchestra Berlin as bassplayer and composer.

Music for the documentary films "A Tokyo Fusebox" and "der Anfang war gut" by Susanna Salonen

1st prize at the competition for Jazz Newcomers in Leipzig with "Out of Print"
